Chamber Advocacy Yields Two Veto Overrides
Legislators returned to Raleigh this week where they voted to overturn two vetoes of critical policy supported by the NC Chamber. Requiring a three-fifths majority vote in each chamber, the veto overrides were advocated for strongly by the NC Chamber team.

Senate Bill 266: The Power Bill Reduction Act has long been a key vote being scored by the NC Chamber. The policy will ensure North Carolina’s energy infrastructure can support our state’s rapid growth. Learn more about what this key vote will do for our state.

House Bill 402: Limit Rules With Substantial Financial Costs restores certainty in the rulemaking process, which is critical to economic growth. Learn more about why this is an important step in Constitutional restoration.

Mini Budget Sent to Governor
While a full state budget remains elusive, legislators did move what has been referred to as a “mini budget”. The smaller budget received bipartisan support and provides funding for some of the more basic functions of state government to continue since the new fiscal year began earlier this month. The mini budget will now go to Governor Stein where it will be signed into law, vetoed, or simply become law without his signature after ten days of inaction. Learn more.

The legislature is now on recess until late August when it is expected to reconvene for three days.
