You always have choice
You always have choice
I can’t tell you how many meetings I’ve sat in this past year where the presenter starts with:
“I know this information is overwhelming…”
Over and over again. Like a mantra.
Or all the conversations about life being “chaotic.”
Or the memes… like the one where Elf on the Shelf is for the kids, but for adults, it’s Mentally Unstable on the Table, starring two women holding wine glasses the size of fishbowls.
🙃 Funny? Yes.
💔 But also… a little too relatable?
Because while there are weeks when life throws the full bingo card at you:
Your flight’s delayed.
The dog throws up.
The kids forget their homework (again).
Your work deadline just got moved up AND your calendar’s gone full Whac-A-Mole…
That IS life sometimes. But that’s not what I’m talking about.
What I am talking about is when chaos, overbusy, and overwhelm become your baseline.
When stress becomes social currency.
When being maxed out makes you feel… valuable. Important. Needed. Like you matter because the little voice in your head keeps telling you that you’re not doing enough.
We live in a culture that glorifies exhaustion, saying “I’m slammed” becomes a badge of worth.
But here’s the thing:
You have a choice to get off the wheel of overwhelm.
And before you comment, “But my boss / kids / clients / parents need me to…”
Consider this:
Not choosing is still a choice.
Saying yes to everything out of obligation is a choice.
Filling every moment of your calendar so you can be “productive” is a choice.
Letting martyrdom mask your magic? Still a choice.
Bringing more calm, space, peace into your world starts with you… no one individually will change the culture.
But, the small shifts you make will create a ripple effect and that is how we impact many.
So start small because everything adds up.
✨ Say yes to space in your schedule.
🌿 Choose one activity that truly nourishes you.
🕯️ Start your day with quiet instead of catch-up.
💬 Ask yourself: what would feeling truly present look like today?
Let’s create a world where overwhelm is the exception—not the default.
