The Skyla Foundation is dedicated to partnering with and supporting the local community through annual scholarship awards and grant contributions to local organizations and initiatives.
herman hoose scholarship award
Each May, Skyla awards $5,000 Herman Hoose Scholarships to deserving students who are graduating from high school in the current school year and enrolls in an institution of higher education for the fall of that same year.
Skyla is partnering with the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation on the 2023-2024 Herman Hoose Scholarship cycle. The application window is from October 1 to February 1.
- Applicants must have an account with Skyla. Memberships of parents or other immediate family members do not qualify.
- Applications are not accepted for enrollment as a part-time student, for vocational or trade schools, or for adult remedial high school academic courses.
- Along with the application, a current transcript of the student’s high school academic record must be included.
- Applicants must possess a 3.0 GPA or above on a 4-point (non-weighted) scale.

Skyla welcomes the opportunity to sponsor community initiatives. Please submit our Community Contribution Request form for consideration.
To be eligible, your organization must:
- Benefit a charitable cause or effort and be a positive contribution to the community as a whole
- Occur or take effect within Skyla’s current service area and are limited to one community contribution per calendar year
- Organizations / projects may not have a religious, legislative, or political purpose
