George Dunlap brings over three decades of elected leadership experience, representing District 3 and guiding Mecklenburg County through sustained growth and complex policy decisions. As a six-term Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, he has led on budgeting, economic development, and public safety—balancing fiscal responsibility with long-term community investment. His 14 years on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board further reflect a track record of governance, oversight, and strategic planning across large public systems. At the national level, as Vice President of the National Association of Counties, he contributes to shaping policy and best practices that influence local governments and business environments across the country.
