Calling all Minority and Women-owned businesses!! Have you considered working on state and/or federally funded highway construction projects? The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Office of Civil Rights is here to help you pursue that option. We are seeking firms that specialize in construction and maintenance work, including but not limited to:  concrete, rebar placement, seeding, mulching, temporary fence installation, pipe installation, drainage structures, mowing, litter pickup, hauling, curb and gutter, fence installation, and guardrail installation.  If your business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by minorities or women, please consider becoming a part of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program.  Other conditions of the program are:

  • The business must have not exceeded an average of $23.98 million in gross annual receipts over a three-year period; and
  • The owner’s personal net worth must be less than $1.32 million.

More information on the DBE Program is available at:  https://www.ncdot.gov/about-us/board-offices/offices/civil-rights/Pages/disadvantaged-business-enterprise.aspx.  For a more personal approach, you are welcome to contact the NCDOT Office of Civil Rights Customer Service at 984-236-1245; someone knowledgeable about the program will follow-up with you.  For larger groups in your area, the option of a face-to-face information session is available.

Thank you for your interest in the NCDOT DBE Program; we look forward to working with you.
